Afterstate — Fashion
How Upvision rebuilt brand and web presence for Afterstate, a fashion client.
Outcome: We built Afterstate end to end: product sourcing, the ordering system, and a custom Shopify theme in Liquid so drop, shop, and fulfilment run as one store.
Scope
- Product sourcing and specs
- Ordering and fulfilment setup
- Custom Shopify (Liquid)
- Drop storefront — EN / DE / FR
What We Delivered
Afterstate is a store we built as a system, not a theme we restyled. We helped source and specify the first drop — heavyweight cotton tees, crews, hoodies, and caps — then wrote the Shopify theme in custom Liquid so the shop, journal, and checkout match how a short run actually sells.
The brand line is life beyond the rush. Short runs, no restocks, tracked from London. The wordmark is a stacked black logotype. Drop 001 is four designs (No Rush, Not Yet, Say Less, After This), each as tee, layer, and cap. The store is organised by design and by form so a visitor can enter from a print or from a hoodie.
Sourcing and merchandising sit in the same files as the storefront: garment measurements on the product page, care and shipping next to add to cart, inventory treated as a limited run. When a size is gone, it is gone.
Process and Execution
A limited drop dies if the site feels like a never-ending catalog. We built a custom Liquid theme around the current drop — homepage, collection, product, journal — instead of stretching a stock Shopify template. EN, DE, and FR share one structure.
Product work started before the theme. We helped choose forms, weights, and finishes that could hold a “made to last” claim: garment-dyed heavyweight cotton, relaxed cuts with laid-flat size tables (M–2XL; caps one size). Those specs feed the size guide, the PDP, and the copy. We did not invent mill names or sell-out numbers.
Ordering is the other half. Shopify checkout is wired to UK and Europe shipping, VAT at pay, and a 1–3 working-day dispatch window. Size, care, and shipping sit on the product — not only in policy pages — so a first order does not bounce to support. Inventory and “no restocks” are the same rule: the store should not promise a restock the warehouse cannot make.
Impact
Afterstate can launch the next drop on the same system — source the pieces, load the run, sell in three languages — without rebuilding the brand or the theme each season.
